In lieu of flowers memorials are being directed to the Avilla Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery near Butterfield. Columbus was a member of the Avilla Methodist Church. After retirement, Columbus and Margie lived in Purdy, Mo., for three years before moving to Sarcoxie, Mo., in 1983. He then decided to become a painter and did so until his retirement in 1980. Besides farming, Columbus also worked as a custodian and bus driver for the Avilla School District for seven years. ![]() After one year they moved back to Missouri, where they bought a farm east of Avilla. He retired from farming in 1964, and moved his family to Glendora, Calif., where he worked as a gardener for the Covina School District. They relocated to the Kansas City area and settled in the Independence, Mo. She was born and raised in Quapaw, Okla., and married her high school sweetheart, Clifton Bunce in 1953. She was a loving mother that will be dearly missed by family and friends.
